NEW JERSEY
Essex County
Newark's port and airport economy beside suburban practices in the western towns.
Two economies in one county
Newark anchors Essex with the airport and the port complex shared with Elizabeth, plus large health and education employers. A company that lives on port-related trucking is not the same sale as a professional practice in Montclair, Millburn, or the Oranges.
Say which Essex you mean. “Essex County” on a form without the town hides whether the buyer is underwriting a logistics yard or a local clientele.
What to put in the first note
Town, whether you own the building, and whether customers come to you or you go to a site in another county. Many Essex service companies work across the Hudson and into Bergen. The revenue is not all local even when the office is.
We do not publish an office in Newark.
Questions
Is Newark Airport in Essex?
Newark Liberty International Airport is associated with Newark. Elizabeth, in Union County, is part of the same port district. Do not describe a port business as only one town if the yard is in the other.
