What the operator still owns after the advisors leave
By GROFINEX Insights
Outside help can prepare a brief, a system, a building, or a transaction. It does not own the customer relationship, the cash, or the decision to proceed. Those stay with the operator.
Before you ask for help, write which of those three the request is actually about. A marketing project that is really a cash problem will disappoint both sides. A hire that is really an owner who will not delegate will do the same.
A good advisor makes the choice clearer and the next week more specific. A weak one adds a program the company cannot run alone.
Keep the engagement small enough that you can tell whether it worked. The test is a change you can point to, not a feeling that the company is being taken seriously.
