Selling a business with employees

Who is told, when, and what a buyer is actually hiring.

Confidential does not mean the staff is irrelevant

You can keep a sale quiet while you look at a range. You cannot pretend the employees are not part of what a buyer is buying, especially if a few people hold the customer relationships.

Public pages here do not name your company. Who you tell inside the company is a management decision, not a form field.

A buyer will ask who stays

Key people, tenure, and whether anyone is related to you belong in the confidential conversation. A sale that assumes everyone stays, with no conversation, is a hope.

This page is not employment legal advice. Questions about notice, contracts, or benefits belong with an independent professional.

Questions

Must I tell employees before I submit the form?

No. The preliminary form is confidential.

What if a manager is the only person who can run a shift?

Say so. That fact changes the price and the training period a buyer will ask for.
